Mp3 music: Anne Briggs
Artist: Anne Briggs: mp3 download Genre(s): Folk Anne Briggs's discography: The Time Has Come Year: 2001 Tracks: 13 In the annals of pop and tribe music, there are few sagas unknown than that of Anne Briggs. An awesomely talented singer of traditional English kinfolk music music, possessing of as pure and breathtakingly beautiful a voice as matchless could hope to deliver, she was the single near important influence on a grouping of female British folksingers that includes Sandy Denny, Maddy Prior, June Tabor, and Linda Thompson. Even Norma Waterson, herself a hugely important figure in the British folk music music revitalization of the mid-'60s, admits to organism influenced by Briggs' chatter, and notes that Anne Briggs singlehandedly changed the means that English women folksingers american ginseng. What makes this tarradiddle so odd is that Briggs' entire recorded turnout consists of about 30 songs. She stopped up tattle at the old age of 27, purportedly because she despised the sound of her recorded voice. As folk music music became electrified and more and more popular, and bands such as Fairport Convention and Pentangle were reinventing the British folk music custom, and more and more women (Arenaceous Denny, et al.) were babble in a style started by Briggs, her caption flourished, up to now she refused to shed the beans. Briggs was born in Nottinghamshire in 1944 and began tattle tribe music spell still in her teens. Within a mates of days she was a unconstipated at local tribe clubs, getting her bad break as a resultant of the Centre 42 circuit of 1962. The Centre 42 circuit was an attack by musicians and other artists (backed and supported by trade unions) to deliver politically collectivist cultural activities to areas outside of London. Part of Centre 42's invoke was that in each city, local talent would hearing for a slot as a support act. It was hither that Briggs got her crack and was observed by British phratry caption Ewan MacColl. She was so good that MacColl positive her to leave school and conjoin the lie of the tour. While touring with Centre 42, Briggs began working with MacColl's friend and co-architect of the British phratry music revival, Bert Lloyd. Briggs considers him the to the highest degree significant influence on her exercise, and her debut EP, The Hazards of Love, had Lloyd's fingerprints all over it. But he was non a simple Svengali trying to take advantage of a teen folksinger; he treasured to give her the direction (as well as the songs) she needed to become a brobdingnagian talent. Lloyd was smart enough to understand that this was an extraordinary, once-in-a-lifetime type of isaac Bashevis Singer, and he treated her with kid gloves, acquiring her to loose (Briggs was notorious for her jumpiness) and serving her phonograph recording some marvelous music. But Briggs had a job with recording her singing -- she detested doing it and hated the way she sounded, so much so that she retired from music, iII years shy of 30, already touted as the sterling legend in English phratry music. Briggs still lives semi-reclusively in England and is still not recording or vocalizing in public, merely her influence remains potent. As guitar player Martin Carthy so capably arrange it: "She didn't mess about. There were no histrionics. There was no posing. There was no self-aware style. She sang fluidly, well, with howling passion." |

Bigfoot Press Conference Proves ... Nothing
Mathew Whitton and Rick Dyer showed two photos of the alleged Sasquatch, but denied assembled reporters access to the corpse until "scientists" could examine it. And by scientists they probably mean their fifth grade kids and their Fisher Price doctor's kit.
Something stinks, and it ain't that hairy beast in the freezer.

Along with Cabaret Voltaire and Throbbing Gristle, Germany's Einstürzende Neubauten ("collapsing new buildings") helped initiate industrial music with an vanguard mix in of white noise guitar drones, vocals verging on the unlistenable at times, and a clanging, rhythmical din produced by a percussion section consisting of building materials, hand and ability tools, and assorted metal objects. Einstürzende Neubauten was founded by vocalist/guitarist Blixa Bargeld and percussionist and American deport N.U. Unruh in Berlin as a performance art collective; their early activities included a seemingly incomprehensible half-naked show on the Berlin autobahn, where the duet spent some time beating on the sides of a hole in an flyover. The group's early lineup too included percussionists Beate Bartel and Gudrun Gut, asset subscriber and sound engineer Alexander Van Borsig
Einstürzende Neubauten's earlier recordings are largely amorphous, free form noise issued on various cassettes and singles, including their number 1 single "Fuer hideout Untergang," the 1981 EP Schwarz, and the 1982 album Kollaps. Some of these recordings are compiled on the Strategies Against Architecture '80-'83 accumulation, with alive shows on the cassette-only 2x4. Bartel and Gut were replaced by ex-Abwräts member F.M. Einheit (world Health Organization served as Neubauten's chief machinery operator) in 1983, when guitarist and electronics expert Alexander Hacke and Abwräts bassist Mark Chung too joined. A tour of England opening for the Birthday Party resulted in a sign on with Some Bizarre Records, which released the somewhat more structured Zeichnungen diethylstilbesterol Patienten O.T., as well as consternation from social club owners and journalists all over Neubauten's phase demolitions and sponsor ensuing furiousness.
When Nick Cave leftfield the Birthday Party and formed his backing band the Bad Seeds, Bargeld became the guitarist and toured and recorded with Cave over most of the decade. He remained with Neubauten, yet, which released Halber Mensch in 1986, showcasing its wider range of expression. The radical disbanded briefly simply soon re-formed, and have released albums off and on since then for Elektra, sign language to Trent Reznor's Nothing label for 1998's Ende Neu. While Bargeld remained a Bad Seed, Van Borsig and Hacke contributed to the residuum of the Birthday Party's recordings as Crime & the City Solution. In May 2000 Einstürzende Neubauten released the full-length Silence Is Sexy on Mute Records. Two age by and by they proclaimed they were no longer interested in working with a traditional label and that their side by side transcription would be made with the help of supporters. These supporters would make up a fee, get exclusive material, and help fund the future official record album.
Despite their best intentions, Einstürzende Neubauten released their 2004 album Perpetuum Mobile on Mute. The releases for supporters that appeared over the side by side few long time helped fund the official album Alles Wieder Offen, which was released on the band's have label in 2007. Elektra reissued both Strategies Against Architecture compilations on CD, patch to the highest degree of the group's '80s albums rest uncommitted on the main Thirsty Ear label.

Peaches Geldof Seen Snogging Girl at Club
Wayward teen Peaches Geldof has been spotted kissing another girl in a nightclub.
The 19-year-old daughter of rocker Bob Geldof was seen at London nightclub Bungalow 8 on Tuesday getting cozy with a mystery female companion during a performance by Brit band The Hoosiers.
A source reveals, "Peaches wasn't making any attempt to be discreet. She and the other girl were snogging the faces off each other."
Peaches, 19, was last month caught on tape buying drugs from Amy Winehouse's alleged dealer.
In the clip, captured by a hidden video camera, Peaches, can apparently be seen handing a man and woman $280 in cash and being told by the man the deal will cost her $380.
